Testing - Your child will be participating in several assessments during the first week of May.  The students will be participating in Spring benchmarking.  Your child will also be participating in two Star Assessments that will measure a student’s growth in literacy/math.  Please talk to your child about the importance of trying their hardest.  Also making sure the students are well rested plays an important part in doing well on our assessments.  Thank you for your help.

BOGO Book Fair – Tri-Point Lower Elementary is hosting a Buy One Get One Free Book Fair during the week of April 30th – May 5th in the Kempton Little Gym (WEST BUILDING). Students will preview books on Monday, April 30th.  The students will bring home their wish lists MONDAY afternoon.  Students can buy books on Tues. and Wed. during the day.  The Book Fair will also be open Wed. afternoon from 3-5:00 so families may come and buy books. Please look over your child’s list carefully.  If you have any questions about their choices please let your child’s teacher know or come to the on Wed. afternoon or evening to look over your child’s choices.  This is a wonderful opportunity to get books for your child (ren) to read over the summer and prevent summer slide back in reading from taking place.  We hope to see everyone at the Book Fair!

Weather- May weather varies greatly.  When it is not raining students are outside for recesses and PE now that Spring is here.  Mornings can still be cold (in the 30’s and 40’s).  Children should have a sweatshirt or jacket they can take off as the temps climb.

A-R Ice Cream Party - All students who have participated in Accelerated Reader will be given a scoop of ice cream.  Students who have earned a STAR rating will be given 1 topping.  Students who have earned a SUPER rating will be given two scoops of ice cream and two toppings.  Students who have achieved HONORS and POWER reading levels will be given 3 scoops of ice cream and three toppings.  Our students have been reading up a storm and many more students are earning higher levels than last year!  Please encourage your child to continue reading over the summer!

August 21st is the first day of student attendance for the 2018-2019 school year.  Registration for the 18/19 School Year will take place on line after July 5th.  Families should be watching for additional info on the District Website:   https://www.tripointschools.org

                                                                                     Have a great summer!
